Scott was raised in the Mountain West as a youngster before moving all over the world as part of an incredibly varied life journey, which has seen him be everything from a trial lawyer, who’s ranked in the top 1% nationwide, to a U.S. Marine Veteran, to an award-winning filmmaker, and – now – to be a successful music artist. Born in Montana and raised in Wyoming and later Indiana, Scott Pryor’s life story sometimes feels like the American dream personified. Scott is a fiercely competitive athlete. As a youth, Scott was a multi-state champion wrestler, winning championships throughout Montana, Wyoming, and further afield – and later as a martial artist and playing other sports, all the while letting his competitive spirit drive him forward. Turning down a wrestling scholarship, Scott entered the United States Marine Corps when he was 17, finding a new outlet for his restless spirit. From the Marines, he turned to academia, going to college, and taking a degree in Finance and Arts before working on a master’s degree in economics and eventually heading to Law School. After leaving law school, Scott started his practice in Serious Injury and Wrongful Death, always fighting for the underdog. Always drawn to powerful films, He turned to filmmaking.

Scott Pryor became known for writing, producing (PGA), co-directing, and acting in three widely acclaimed feature films Blackbear, The List, and Tulsa. With each of these, he took a raw view of some significant, abiding themes, including addiction, Veterans issues, loss, family, home, loneliness, mental health, faith, redemption, hope and surviving modern America. For his award-winning work in film, Pryor has been featured on NBC, ABC, CBS, WGN, CW, Fox, and many more news programs and publications.

His whole life, Scott has always been drawn to music. He says that his father first lit the spark in him. “Originally, my father was my biggest influence,” Scott said. “He plays honky-tonk piano and is one of the best in the world. He has even been referred to as a savant on the piano in that style of music. Inspired by the stadium-sized rock of artists like U2, Pearl Jam, Post Malone, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen, Jared Leto, Tina Turner, Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, GNR, and Metallica, Scott homed in on a heart-on-sleeve multifaceted rock style. Scott’s voice somehow manages to toe the line between being rich and full-bodied and graveled and vulnerable.

He built up a team around him – including vocal coach/producer “Mama Jan” Smith (Rob Thomas, Usher, Justin Bieber), and Jesse Owen Astin, musician/producer (Demi Lovato, Juliet Simms, Billy Ray Cyrus). In addition, Scott works daily with a vocal coach and singer-songwriter, Heidi Huelskoetter, to work on his voice and songwriting skills. This close team helped Scott unleash his long-held musical ambitions.

Scott’s life changed forever when his son Elijah Pryor committed suicide in 2023 when Scott was recording his first album. Scott wrote a song called “Wide Awake” and named his first album, “Wide Awake’ in honor of his sons struggles with mental health. Scott’s mission is to change lives through powerful and relevant story telling through film and music. Pryor, Smith, and Astin are currently working on his second album and plans to start touring in late 2024.

“Scott Pryor is one of the most intense creatives I’ve had the pleasure of working with. The fact that he’s a Marine only speaks to his detail orientation and commitment to excellence. His visual skillset helps him to be a better storyteller, and his accomplished athleticism only compliments his already ridiculous work ethic.”
